We started a collaboration with Silver Screen Society back in 2012 and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Dozens of great movie-inspired wallpapers by excellent illustrators.
Silver Screen Society honors the many stories told through the world of cinema each month by bringing a new film and a continuous stream of creatives that carry with them their own unique interpretations and ideas.
We started the site in 2007 right after the first iPhone was released. The redesign we launched this week is the first time we’ve drastically changed the layout of the page (more about that here). I thought it would be interesting to see how the design evolved incrementally over the years. Here we go:
The original design was created in Dreamweaver (ugh). It was a pain to update. This basic design remained unchanged until 2010 although we did reprogram it and added a CMS at some point once Arturo and Pere joined us.
Small step for mankind, large step for Poolga. We got rid of the header and added basic navigation, introduced Artists and About pages. Gave the logo the ribbon treatment, as you do in 2010.
New logo, web fonts and more cleanup. Retina screens and iPad had been released so we had to add a filter by device on top, which always felt like an afterthought (which it was). This design remained basically unchanged until this week.
First major redesign. The Internet has changed a lot since 2007, so we evolved. :)

Today we’re launching a new site design for Poolga. This is the first major redesign since the birth of the site, making it responsive and easier to browse and find the best art for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Why the change?
Needless to say, the Internet has changed a lot over the past seven years, and the way that our viewers interact with Poolga has evolved too. We now get more than half of our visits from mobile devices, and many people use Poolga not only as a source of beautiful wallpapers, but also as an illustration showcase and source of inspiration.
Here are some of the redesign highlights.
Thanks to all of the talented artists who have donated their work to the noble cause of beautifying people’s phone and tablet screens over the years.
Here’s to another 7 years of beautiful screens!

That’s right! We have a new pet. He’s a bit scruffy and full of fleas, but we still love him! He comes from the genius hand of our illustrator extraordinaire Laszlito Kovacs. We’ve also cleaned up and revamped our site to make our new friend feel right at home. Come visit him at poolga.com starting today, and while you’re there, download the best art for iPhone and iPad.
We’ve teamed up with THE MAMMOTH COLLECTION to offer a selection of their superb art collection for your iPhone and iPad. Starting Monday May 16 we will be featuring one new Mammoth artist every day for the whole week. Don’t miss any of them!
